Frequently asked questions
Answers about our repair of e-bike batteries, circuit boards and electronics. We do not repair phones, smartphones or tablets.
Repair Registration & Contact
Always include your name, contact details, brand, model, electrical system, problem description, error codes and details of any previous repairs. Attach clear photographs of the component, identification label, connectors, plugs and visible damage. Complete information helps us determine whether an assessment is possible.
The maximum total file size for attachments submitted through the online form is 10 MB. Reduce the size of large photographs if necessary, but make sure identification labels, numbers, connectors and damage remain clearly visible.
WhatsApp is being added as an additional contact channel. Use it as soon as the WhatsApp button or number appears on our contact page. Until then, use the contact form, email or telephone. WhatsApp is intended for chat messages, not WhatsApp calls.
We respond as soon as possible on working days. Because every request requires a technical assessment, an immediate reply is not always possible. Providing complete information helps prevent unnecessary delays.
The technical workshop at Stationsstraat 8 is a private workshop and operates by appointment only. Please do not visit the workshop without an appointment. After consultation, components can be delivered to our partner, Fiets Service Weert, at Stationsstraat 7 in Weert.
Stationsstraat 8 is Device Repair's private technical workshop and is only accessible by appointment. Stationsstraat 7 is Fiets Service Weert, where components may be delivered after consultation or where you can request information in person. Always check your appointment or registration confirmation before travelling.
Fiets Service Weert is located at Stationsstraat 7, 6001 CJ Weert. Navigate to Stationsstraat 7 using Google Maps.
You can contact Device Repair by telephone on +31 85 666 27 52, by email at info@devicerepair.eu or through the online contact form. For an existing request, always include your order or repair number.
No. A form submission or email is initially a request. We review the information and tell you whether the item is likely to be accepted, which parts are required and what you should do next.
Yes, requests from EU countries can be accepted after prior assessment. Acceptance, shipping, battery transport, payment and return arrangements are agreed for each job. Do not send anything until you have received our express confirmation.
Include clear photographs of the complete item, rating plate, model and serial numbers, connectors, plugs, charger or power supply and any visible damage. Ensure that labels and connector details are readable.
Normally not. Complete requests are reviewed as soon as reasonably possible on working days. A technical pre-assessment takes time. Check your spam folder and avoid sending the same request repeatedly, as duplicate messages do not speed up the assessment.
Diagnostics & Repair Process
Charges may apply for disassembly, measurements and technical fault finding. We explain the amount or calculation method before paid diagnosis begins. If an offered repair is approved and completed, diagnostic charges may be incorporated into the repair price as agreed. If no repair is carried out, agreed diagnostic and return-shipping charges remain payable.
A reliable diagnosis requires time, technical knowledge, measuring equipment and often disassembly of the component. The diagnostic charge covers this work if you decide not to proceed with the repair.
After the diagnosis, we will inform you about the technical options and expected repair costs. You can then decide whether to proceed. If additional unexpected defects are discovered, we will contact you again.
Component-level repair means that we do not automatically replace the complete module. We inspect the circuit board and, where possible, repair individual components, circuit-board traces, connectors, chips or other electronic parts. This can reduce costs and electronic waste.
Processing time depends on the diagnostic work, fault, availability of parts, required tests and previous damage. Any timeframe given is an estimate rather than a guaranteed completion date. We contact you when approval or more information is required and when the work is complete.
No. Diagnosis and repair may require measurements, disassembly, soldering and extensive testing. It is therefore not possible to wait while the repair is carried out.
Yes. We will contact you when the diagnosis is complete, when approval or additional information is required, or when the component is ready. Always include your order or repair number when contacting us.
An assessed component may be returned in a disassembled condition. Component-level diagnosis may require complete disassembly of the housing and electronics. Because of damage, technical limitations or safety requirements, complete reassembly is not always possible.
Previous professional repairs must be disclosed when registering the component. We may refuse components with unsafe modifications, unprofessional soldering, missing connectors, exposed wiring, opened battery packs or other serious safety risks.
Unsafe modifications can cause short circuits, electric shocks, damage to testing equipment or fire. The safety of customers, employees, transport companies and the workshop always comes first.
Our objective is sustainable repair. If a repair would be technically unreliable or cost more than a suitable new or refurbished replacement, we will advise you honestly about replacement. Safety and reliability always take priority.
The item is matched to the repair request and inspected as agreed. Confirmation of receipt does not mean that repair is possible. If additional chargeable work is possible, we send a quotation or approval request before carrying it out.
The additional repair work in the quotation will not be carried out. Agreed diagnostic, disassembly, packaging and return-shipping charges may still be payable. For technical or safety reasons, an inspected item may be returned partially disassembled.
Contact us immediately. Cancellation is only possible to the extent that work, orders or other costs have not yet been incurred. Work already performed, diagnosis, specially ordered parts, packaging and shipping may be charged. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
Yes, wherever technically possible. Back up important data and settings and remove unnecessary storage media and personal information. If an access code is required for testing, use a temporary code where possible and change it after the repair.
If you want a replaced component returned, tell us in writing before work begins. Return may not be possible where safety, warranty, recycling or exchange conditions prevent it.
Not always. Some components can only be completely tested in the original bicycle, appliance or complete system. We test the repaired functions as far as responsibly possible with the supplied parts, available equipment and technical information.
Specialisations & Technology
We inspect selected circuit boards, e-bike electronics, batteries and BMS units, chargers, power supplies, cables, connectors, selected e-bike motors, robot vacuum cleaners, robotic lawn mowers and selected small electrical appliances. Every request is assessed for safety, technical feasibility, parts availability and testing options. See our repair services.
Our main specialisation is electronics used in the mobility sector, including e-bikes. Other electronic devices may sometimes be assessed as well. Submit a complete request with photographs and product information so we can evaluate the possibilities.
We work independently of a single brand. Acceptance depends on the system, model, fault, safety condition, available parts, software and testing options. We do not repair VanMoof bicycles or fatbikes. Send exact model details and clear photographs before shipping anything.
Yes. Where possible, we diagnose and repair faulty electronic components, damaged circuit-board traces, breaks, burnt connections, connectors and other circuit-board defects.
Sometimes. We can clean, inspect and, where possible, repair circuit boards and connectors affected by moisture or contamination. The result depends on the severity and duration of the corrosion or contamination. Do not continue using or charging a wet or damaged component.
Yes. Damaged wiring and connectors can often be soldered or replaced. Include clear photographs of the cable, plug, connections and any part numbers with your request.
Electronic faults in displays can sometimes be repaired. If an LCD panel is cracked or physically damaged, replacing the screen or complete display is usually more reliable than repairing the glass.
Yes. Depending on the type and fault, battery chargers can be assessed and may be repairable. For battery problems, always include the corresponding charger so that both the battery and charger can be tested.
We can investigate faults in various Battery Management Systems and may be able to repair them. Not every BMS is accessible, programmable or safe to repair. The possibilities are determined after registration and diagnosis.
Cell replacement is not offered or promised automatically. The battery type, cell groups, enclosure, connections, BMS, overall safety and economic viability must first be assessed. Work on a cell pack is only considered when a safe and technically responsible result is possible.
Components that are completely encapsulated in hard resin usually cannot be repaired. Removing the resin often damages the circuit board and microelectronics. Submit clear photographs for an initial assessment.
Yes. Some housings are not designed to be reopened. Opening them may cause cosmetic damage and the original seal cannot always be fully restored. Opening the housing may nevertheless be necessary to inspect the electronics.
No. Device Repair does not accept VanMoof bicycles or fatbikes for repair.
Yes, we inspect selected e-bike motors and associated electronics. The possible work depends on the brand, motor type, fault, safety, available parts, software and testing options. Register the motor first with rating-plate details, symptoms, error codes and photographs.
No. Some motors cannot be opened responsibly or require manufacturer-specific parts, software, calibration or test equipment. We assess the exact motor and fault before accepting it.
We inspect selected robot vacuum cleaners with electronic faults involving charging, batteries, docking stations, sensors, motor control, circuit boards, wiring or connectors. Register the exact model and fault before sending the appliance.
We inspect selected robotic lawn mowers with electronic faults involving charging, power supplies, sensors, motor control, circuit boards, wiring or connectors. Acceptance depends on the model, condition, safety, parts availability and testing options.
We inspect selected small electrical appliances with an accessible electronic fault. Acceptance depends on appliance type, safety, access to the electronics, parts availability and testing options. General maintenance, extensive cleaning and purely mechanical wear are not automatically included.
We do not automatically accept general servicing, arbitrary mechanical repairs, full-appliance cleaning or replacement of ordinary wear parts. Our focus is electronic diagnosis, circuit boards and component-level repair. Every request is assessed individually.
Disconnect it from power only if this can be done safely. Do not continue using, charging or opening it. Do not keep a suspicious lithium battery in a living area or escape route. Contact the appropriate local emergency or safety service if there is an immediate danger.
Complete Bike & Accessories
After prior consultation, it may be possible to deliver a complete e-bike. State this clearly in your request so we can tell you where and when the bike may be delivered.
Yes. Batteries, displays, chargers, controllers and other separate modules can be sent after registration. Pack the component safely and include all required documentation.
Yes. For battery problems, always include the corresponding charger. The fault may be in the battery, charger or communication between them. Because of the wide variety of systems, we do not have every charger available.
If the battery is locked or a key is required for removal or testing, include a spare key. Pack it separately in a clearly labelled bag and state on the packing note that a key has been included.
Yes, but only after prior approval. The appliance must be switched off, reasonably clean and safe to handle. Include the charging station, power supply, battery or accessories only when we specifically request them.
Depending on the fault, we may need the display, control unit, controller, motor control, battery, charger, key, battery lock, sensors, connecting cables or motor. Send only the parts we specifically request after pre-assessment.
Shipping & Packaging
Yes. Always register the repair in advance and use the correct shipping address stated in your registration confirmation. Never send unregistered components or batteries to an address without approval. View the complete shipping procedure.
Only use the shipping address stated in your personal registration confirmation. The technical shipping address may be different from the visiting or contact address. Check the confirmation before creating your shipping label.
Never send an e-bike battery without our express approval. Lithium batteries are subject to specific legal transport and packaging rules. Follow our instructions and the carrier’s rules. A damaged, swollen, leaking, deformed, burnt, punctured, unusually hot or severely dropped battery must not be sent as an ordinary parcel.
No. Never send a battery that is visibly damaged, leaking, burnt, hot or swollen. This can present a serious fire risk and is generally prohibited by standard parcel services. Contact us before taking any further action.
Only send a battery after our express approval and follow the carrier’s instructions regarding permitted state of charge and packaging. Do not discharge, charge or modify a battery merely for shipping unless specifically instructed to do so.
Do not apply a UN label on your own initiative. The required classification, packaging, documentation, labelling and transport method depend on battery type, condition and the carrier’s rules. A label alone does not make a shipment lawful.
Use a strong, double-walled cardboard box. Wrap displays, chargers and other components separately in antistatic film or a clean plastic bag, followed by sufficient bubble wrap. Fill all empty space so that nothing can move inside the box.
Wrap the charger and battery separately in bubble wrap. Secure both items and make sure the charger's plug, cable and housing cannot rub against or strike the battery during transport.
Include a printed copy of your registration form or a clear note containing your name, address, telephone number, order number, fault description and any error code. Also list every component, charger and key included in the package.
We recommend registered and adequately insured shipping through a transport company that accepts the relevant component or battery. Keep the shipping receipt and tracking information until delivery has been confirmed.
Shipping to Device Repair is at the sender's expense and risk. Use suitable packaging and appropriate shipping insurance. If a package is damaged or lost, the sender will generally need to submit a claim to the transport company.
Shipping and return costs are paid by the customer unless agreed otherwise in writing. If a component is returned unrepaired, both the diagnostic charge and return shipping costs may apply.
No. An address displayed on the website is not an invitation to send an unregistered item. Use only the shipping or delivery address stated in your personal confirmation.
Place a loose circuit board in suitable antistatic packaging and then protect it against impact inside a strong box. Do not use materials that can generate static electricity. Protect connectors, components and protruding parts from pressure and movement.
No. Do not send cash-on-delivery or insufficiently paid parcels. Additional costs, refusal or return of the shipment remain the sender’s responsibility.
Remove unnecessary storage media, personal items, loose brackets, bags and accessories. Include keys, chargers, cables or other parts only when requested. Clearly identify every enclosed item.
Only after our approval. Special transport conditions may apply even when the lithium battery is installed in a robot vacuum cleaner, robotic lawn mower or other appliance. Confirm with the carrier that the shipment is permitted.
Switch it off, empty the dust container and remove loose dirt, dust and hair. Remove loose accessories. Include the docking station, power supply or brushes only when requested.
Switch it off completely and ensure that it cannot start unexpectedly. Remove loose grass, soil and contamination. Protect sharp or protruding parts and include the charging station or accessories only when requested.
Yes. Photograph the item, rating plate, visible condition, internal packaging and closed parcel. Retain the shipping receipt and tracking information. These records may be important if the shipment is damaged or lost.
After completion and full payment, the item is returned as agreed or made available for collection by appointment. Return-shipping charges are payable by the customer unless agreed otherwise in writing.
Online showroom & Parts
Yes. Our online showroom contains selected new, used and refurbished products and services. The range is still being expanded. Product availability, condition and specifications are shown on the individual product page.
The online showroom may include battery tests, selected e-bike batteries, displays, controllers, chargers, cables, connectors and other electronic or mobility-related parts. The available range changes. The individual product page is always decisive.
Product pages show the known current stock level. An item is only reserved for you after the order and payment have been fully completed.
Yes. Use our contact page to send clear photographs of the old component, identification label, plugs and connectors. Include the bicycle brand, model and electrical system. We will then check whether a suitable part is available.
Do not compare appearance alone. Always check the brand, model, part number, voltage, connector type, number of pins and electrical system. If you are unsure, ask us to check clear photographs before ordering.
Return eligibility depends on the product, its condition, seals, installation and the applicable terms. Do not connect an electronic component if you are unsure about compatibility. Check the product information and terms and conditions before purchasing.
Warranty & Liability
Completed repairs are covered by the warranty arrangements and applicable conditions for the relevant repair type. The warranty applies to the repaired fault and does not automatically cover other components or new damage. View our terms and conditions.
New damage caused by moisture, corrosion, dropping, impact, incorrect connection, overvoltage, improper use, incorrect installation, third-party modifications or a separate fault is not automatically covered.
Stop using the component if necessary and contact us as soon as possible. Include your order number, describe the problem and attach clear photographs or error codes. Do not allow a third party to open or modify the component first.
No. A repair relates to the diagnosed and repaired fault. Other components may subsequently fail because of age, wear, moisture, previous damage or a separate fault.
Stop using the item if continued use could cause damage or risk. Contact us promptly with the job number, symptoms, error codes and clear photographs. Do not allow another party to open, alter or repair the item first.
Our warranty terms do not restrict mandatory consumer rights. The appropriate solution depends on the agreement, product or repair, cause of the problem and applicable legal requirements. Read our terms and conditions or submit a specific complaint.
Business Customers
Yes. By prior agreement, we handle repair enquiries from workshops, retailers, manufacturers, importers, fleet operators and other businesses in the Netherlands and other EU countries.
Yes, after technical pre-assessment. For series or recurring faults, we normally begin with a small representative batch. The initial results are used to agree the repair method, testing, documentation, pricing and possible follow-up quantities.
Describe the company, device or assembly, part and revision numbers, quantity, symptoms and existing findings. Include photographs, error codes, measurements, circuit diagrams or other available technical documentation and state the preferred process and expected volumes.
No. Hardware revisions, previous damage, protected software, coded components, parts availability and different fault causes may vary between assemblies. A pilot provides evidence for further arrangements but is not a guarantee for every later item.
The provisions specifically identified as business-to-business terms in our terms and conditions apply in addition to the general provisions. Different purchasing or business terms apply only when expressly accepted by us in writing.
Sustainability
Targeted repair extends the life of existing electronics, reduces electronic waste and prevents unnecessary replacement of complete modules. Component-level repair can preserve valuable materials and serviceable parts.
Replacement may be more appropriate if a component is unsafe or damaged beyond repair, essential parts are missing, a reliable repair is not possible or the repair would cost more than a suitable replacement.
